Friends of Yad Sarah

Bringing help and hope to the people of Israel

Our Story

Yad Sarah is Israel's leading volunteer staffed organization, providing a vital array of compassionate health and home care services for all ages. Yad Sarah's free services are delivered by over 6.000 volunteers in more than 100 branches, and bring hope and help to the frail, the elderly, the homebound, victims of terror attacks and children with special needs.

More than 400,000 people in Israel used Yad Sarah services last year.

Friends of Yad Sarah is the US-based support organization for Yad Sarah, Israel's largest volunteer-staffed organization, providing caring assistance to more than half a million Israelis in need. More than 6,000 volunteers working out of 100 branches across Israel provide critical medical services and equipment to frail and home-bound elderly, people with disabilities, children with special needs, and victims of terror. In the past year alone, 281,000 wheelchairs and a range of medical and rehab equipment was loaned to people of all ages; 40 vans made 130,000 trips to help people with mobility challenges; geriatric dental clinics served some 7,000 seniors; Yad Sarah's legal aid to the elderly handled 8,000 cases; the family center, providing interventions and therapeutic support in domestic abuse cases, assisted 400 families; 3,700 visits by children with special needs helped parents learn how to play with and nurture their children's growth; and 65,000 home-bound seniors received home visits from caring volunteers. As the need for its services grows -- an increasing number of elderly; children with special needs; terror victims; people with physical challenges -- so does the need for financial support, to acquire and maintain more wheelchairs and a range of other medical equipment and services for all Israelis, regardless of religious, ethnic, or socio-economic background.
