The Green Project

Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without!

Our Story

Our purpose and mission is to build a culture where materials are used to their fullest extent rather than sent to the landfill after one use. The Green Project does this by creating a vital hub of resources that echoes our core values and imparts lasting sustainability community wide. We also operate a salvage building materials warehouse, offering materials at a fraction of the cost of new items, while keeping architectural treasures in circulation.
Our Environmental Education program reaches thousands of students each year and grows the next generations of avid recyclers and stewards of our environment.

The Green Project began in 1994 as a paint recycling facility and continues to be the only one of its kind in the entire Gulf South region, keeping paint from our fragile wetland eco system and from our ground water supply. Annually we keep 20,000-30,000 gallons of paint out of our waterways.

The Green Project develops a culture of creative reuse by building a marketplace for reclaimed materials and cultivating a respect for their value.
