My Appeal
The Covid 19 Pandemic has had a very serious negative financial impact on the Discovery Museum requiring the museum to shut its doors during a time of year when family outings, school programs, birthday parties and summer camps would normally be in full swing generating the funds necessary to keep the museum viable and serving our most needy in the commmunity via scholarships. However, despite the doors being closed the museum team continued to develop and push out on line programming and content to parents and educators free of charge in our area and beyond! I'm exercising in support of the Museum and to stay healty and I hope that you will support me in my effort!

The Mission: The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum’s mission is to spark curiosity & inspire learning through exploration & creative play. A child's education starts at birth and the Discovery Museum teaches through hands-on exhibits that focus on health, history, engineering, math, art, music and more... but even more importantly the "play" fosters life skills like communication, collaboration, creativity, confidence, and more to enhance children's future success in school and life!
About the Organization: The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum is a non-profit organization focusing on the education of children, 6 mos- 10 years, through hands-on play. One of only 7 Children’s museums in the state of Virginia and located in Old Town Winchester, the 19,000 square foot Discovery Museum offers exhibits meant for learning through experience! The Apple Packing Shed, Healthworks (with a real ambulance!), the Climbing Maze, Raceways, a Native American Longhouse, and more represent science, engineering, technology, art, math, and more to emphasize and highlight play as a critical ingredient to child development!
