My Appeal
Anyone who knows me - I mean REALLY knows me - knows that:
a. I hate working out
b. I'm really bad at putting myself first
c. I am too proud and independent to ask for anything - including help.
But 2021 is a new year, I've just started my golden decade, and I found a cause that I believe is worth creating new and difficult change for: World Central Kitchen.
I've been extremely lucky. Never in my life have I had to worry about where my next meal would come from. My fridge and pantry have been pretty bare at times, but never empty. And even after the trials of 2020, I'm so blessed to be stable. For millions (yes, millions), of others, that's not the case.
Hunger and food insecurity in America was bountiful before the COVID-19 pandemic. And in its wake, it's exponentially worse. If it's in my power to do something about it, I feel it's my duty as a decent human being to DO IT. More than ever in this time of great division in our country, I want to do something that spreads love like wildfire to the people who need it. I don't care about their political affiliation, their religious beliefs, their color, their gender - ANYTHING. I just want them to be nourished, loved, and restore their faith in humanity again. Maybe restore mine, too.
So this takes me back to the three things that those who really know me know about me.
I hate working out. I hate putting myself first. But I've joined MM+M Move Together because by me simply getting off of my ass to walk a mile every day, to drink a half-gallon of water every day, take 30 minutes for self-care once a week, I can raise up to $5,000 for World Central Kitchen. $5,000! Do you know how many Americans that could feed? A lot! But not enough. That's why I'm doing my least favorite thing in the WORLD and asking for your help.
I've set a modest goal of raising an additional $200 for World Central Kitchen. And I believe we can do it. If it's $1, if it's $5...whatever you can spare will make a difference, of that I can promise you. If it means forgoing a latte at Starbucks one day so you have $7 to help feed American children in virtual school who have nothing but dust in their pantry, isn't it worth it?
Please join me in spreading love in 2021. My goal is to raise $200 by February 12th - will you help me?
