My Appeal
Hello family & friends,
As many of you know, I have lived with neutropenia, a rare condition, for most of my life. While I am generally healthy, I have had some scary experiences with pneumonia and sepsis as well as other infections. I know how important the medical experts and those that support the patients are to those with chronic illness.
For the past couple years, I have had the privilege of working for the National Neutropenia Network and seeing first-hand how much these patient support programs and the personal & medical connections mean to those living with this rare condition.
I also know how lonely one feels with a rare condition, having no one to talk to about symptoms-and doctors who may or may not understand. Meeting others with a rare condition-neutropenia-was life-altering! I felt validated! Many of us share the same symptoms and fears-infections, fatigue/exhaustion-that does not go away with a nap, when will the life-altering infection/illness come?
I know that you are asked to give to many organizations. They are all good. During our 25th Anniversary month-October 2019, I am going to walk, bike, and swim to earn at least 10,000 steps per day! Please support the National Neutropenia Network and those of us that live with this chronic rare condition day after day. Every little bit helps. While we may 'look good' on the outside, our body is always fighting a battle that we feel but you cannot see.
Thank you for your support! You are greatly appreciated!
Kate

My Cause
The Mission: The mission of the National Neutropenia Network is to promote awareness, education, and research, and to provide a support system for patients with severe chronic neutropenia (SCN) and their families through a national resource network.
About the Organization: Neutropenia is a rare blood condition that causes a reduced number or complete lack of neutrophils. The diagnosis of this condition is often a trying journey marked by baffling infections, emergency room visits, and the desperate search for a physician who understands. We ease isolation through programs that bring patients together for mutual support. Essentially, the NNN exists to help individuals and families impacted by neutropenia to live the healthiest and most fulfilling life possible.
