Adult Enrichment Centers
My Appeal
Hi everyone! As many of you know, I am a Close Scholar at Winthrop University, which means that i have completed approximately 112 volunteer hours each of the seven completed semesters that I have attended Winthrop. Unfortunately the Coronavirus pandemic has caused most of my service opportunities to be cancelled for this semester. However, there is still a way to serve others while social distancing!

The Adult Enrichment Centers in York County allow elderly people and people with special needs or disabilities to remain social and, well, enriched! Though I have only visited their Rock Hill site a handful of times to serve, I could tell how the employee's/volunteer's love for the individuals really makes an impact. To practice social distancing, the AEC has moved their Spring fundraiser online.

I will be walking and tracking 300 miles in the next 28 days to go the social distance for the Adult Enrichment Centers. My fundraising goal is $100. Thank you for reading! Stay awesome and stay healthy!

My Cause
The Mission: At Adult Enrichment Centers, we engage adults of all abilities in community programs that promote inclusion and independence.
About the Organization: AEC was established 35 years ago as a mission of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church. Since that time, we’ve expanded services to provide dually-licensed adult day health services in three dually-licensed community located Centers – in Rock Hill, Fort Mill, and York - serving 150 members per day and assisting more than 250 families with their long term care needs annually.

We operate fully accessible door-to-door transportation for over 80% of our members daily. We make long term care an affordable option for individuals and families who want to ‘age in place’ and delay institutional care as long as possible.

We opened High Five Club in 2006 as parents sought additional community-based services for their adult children with disabilities following the completion of their K-12 public education. Many parents saw their young people losing skills without access to a structured day program. In 2018, we expanded High Five to include CESP-certified individualized services for competitive wage employment. We embrace building a fully inclusive community as a primary value and priority.
