Today, 2.2 billion people lack access to safely managed drinking water services, 4.2 billion people do not have safely managed sanitation services, and 3 billion people lack basic hand washing facilities, One billion people in low-income countries lack access to a road that is passable year-round, limiting their access to health care, education and agricultural markets - contributing significantly to high rates of poverty.
Engineers In Action is responding to these challenges by implementing community-based water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) projects and building pedestrian bridges that enable safe passage across rivers to ensure essential services are safely accessible by all.
This vital work is driven by one word: Together! EIA projects last because we build what communities need most and engage local engineers, craftspeople and managers to provide leadership for their completion. Together with hundreds of skilled volunteers and collaboration with peer NGO's we are making strides to reduce poverty, improve health, and increase educational outcomes that contribute to global stability and prosperity.
