ABOUT MOVE FOR GOOD FITNESS CHALLENGE CAMPAIGN

Join Family Wellness for a 6 week New Year’s fitness challenge to transform your lifestyle and support the health of our community! The challenge runs from January 11th – February 22nd. Every step counts, whether you’re walking, running, biking or taking part in another fitness activity. You can encourage your friends and family to join you – Anyone – Anytime – Anywhere!

 

Every participant is challenged to complete 60 miles (10 miles per week) towards our collective Fitness goal of 10,000 miles AND to raise $100 towards our overall fundraising goal of $10,000. These are goals for the challenge but there is no minimum or maximum requirement for miles logged or dollars raised. As a non-profit organization, Family Wellness is dedicated to providing need based community wellness programming to help people cook well, move well and live well for life. Programs focusing on the cook well, move well, and live well pillars battle chronic disease and support health by inspiring and building healthy habits today to create healthy futures for tomorrow. All funds raised throughout the challenge go towards the Inspire Wellness Initiative.

 

You can track your workouts by setting up your devices (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, Google Fit, Misfit, Strava), or download the Charity Footprints' iOS or Android app and track your workouts toward this campaign. Registration Details:

  • Challenge Dates: Monday, January 11th – Friday, February 22th | Registration Fee: $25.00
  • Receive weekly challenge videos and exercise tips
  • Participate as an individual or create and join a team and compete as a team
  • The minimum fundraising amount is set to a suggested $100 but there is no minimum or limit on the amount you can raise
  • Weekly prize drawings for those that reach 10 miles in the week and those that have collected donations in the week

There will be a GRAND PRIZE for the individual and team with the most miles logged and for the individual and team with the most dollars fundraised. The individual with most miles logged & most dollars fundraised wins a 4 month Family Wellness Membership and can gift a 4 month Family Wellness Membership (to any individual or family that is not a current member). The team with most miles logged & most dollars fundraised wins a total of 4 months Family Wellness Membership to be distributed to team members and can gift a 4 month Family Wellness Membership (to any individual or family that is not a current member)!

Cook Well Pillar: Hands on programs like Healthy Cooking in the Classroom teaches Kids in all Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo public elementary schools the importance of healthy eating by building confidence in the kitchen and creating lifelong healthy cooking skills.

Move Well Pillar: Exercise, nutrition, and health education programs like Parkinson’s and Exercise is Medicine, help address and manage chronic diseases such as obesity, heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, and lead to improved health outcomes. Family Wellness also provides inclusive opportunities for kids with special needs, including Adaptive Swim Lessons, to ensure all kids develop essential skills for a lifetime of safety, confidence, and physical activity around water.

Live Well Pillar: Programs like Youth Volunteer Corps provide students with a safe place to learn, volunteer, and to establish healthy habits. The Family Support Program provides relief to families who have a loved one in the hospital or patients who have been diagnosed with illnesses like cancer, depression, and anxiety so they have facility access to relieve stress and improve overall health.

What is Charity Footprints?

Charity Footprints is a social enterprise that connects fitness and charitable giving. We empower people just like you, to get fit & give back.

Our Virtual Races allow non-profits to challenge their patrons to run, walk or ride and raise funds just as they would in a fundraising walkathon. The best part - charities save over 45% in event and logistical costs. So, the dollars that you pay to register or fundraise, go farther.

What is the campaign registration fee?

Campaign registration fee is the amount that you'll need to pay to enroll in this virtual race. This fee (less transaction charges) will go to the non-profit running this campaign as a donation.

The registration fee along with the funds raised through your individual fundraising page will enable the non-profit to fund various programs and pursue their organization's mission.

How can I create my fundraising page?

Well, you wouldn't have to create a separate fundraising page. Once you register for this campaign, we'll give you the link to your fundraising page.

How will I track my distance?

You can track your workouts by setting up your devices (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, Google Fit, Misfit, Strava), or download the Charity Footprints' iOS or Android app and track your workouts toward this campaign.

How do I join a team on this campaign?

While registering for the campaign, select the team you'd like to join or create a new team and invite others to #GetFitGiveBack with you. If you want to join a team (or create your team) after registration, login to the campaign site and you would find a link to edit "My Team" in the menu under your profile in the header.

I am an international donor (non-US), what are my donation charges and tax-deductibility?

All donations are made in US dollars, so the donations may be levied an exchange rate fee via your bank. Donors will want to connect with their bank to determine exactly what that fee may be. Additionally, international donors will need to reach out to a tax professional to discuss if and how tax deductibility will apply to their donation.

Who can sponsor my fundraising efforts?

The short answer is - everyone. The fundraising research shows that the number one reason for people not donating is that they weren't asked to.

That said, there are things you can do to attract people to sponsor you. Adding a picture to your fundraising page, telling potential donors why this cause is so personal to you, sharing your fundraising page on social media, email, and chat groups.

Last, if your employer has a gift matching program, check with the human resources department to support your favorite cause as well.
