ABOUT CARE FOR CHILDREN CAMPAIGN

As part of Care for Children’s fundraising activities we are working with an agency called Charity Footprints who have designed a fitness portal for us. From this we have created a fitness challenge for us all to participate in during the month of April 2021.

What’s the ‘challenge’, I hear you ask?

There are three:

  • Firstly, meet the goal you set yourself. Be ambitious... And then feel that great sense of achievement when you accomplish it (as well as receive a unique medal from Care for Children to commemorate your success).
  • Secondly – and for the more competitive amongst us – the person who achieves the furthest distance (or the most amount of steps) during the four week period, wins!
  • Lastly, but of course most importantly, this is a collective challenge to raise US$ 30,000 for our projects.

We have set three goals for you to choose from, Beginner 200,000 steps (100 miles), Intermediate 300,000 steps (150 miles), Advanced 400,000 steps (200 miles). You can achieve this target however you like, whether it’s running, walking, swimming or yoga (it’s basically just putting one foot in front of the other and getting your step count up).

Now, please don’t be put off if exercise isn’t your thing. It is recommended that we all walk 10,000 steps a day, so can you do that? If so, 10,000 steps will equate to 280,000 for the four weeks in April, so set your target, push hard and see what you can achieve.

For every 67,000 steps (35 miles) achieved collectively, we will have raised enough support to place 1 child into a family.

When you sign up, it costs just $15, (this will be in US Dollars $ because our partners in Charity Footprints are based in the USA and for our purpose it wasn't feasible to add the option of multi-currency payments. The cost is approx £10 and there may be a bank charge to be aware of depending on your own bank policy). Please then look to get sponsorship from your friends, family, neighbors, etc to achieve your goal. We ask that your aim is to raise a minimum of £100 sponsorship each. The platform automatically sets up your fundraising page which you can share on your social media platforms.

Registration opens on Monday 22nd March and the fitness challenge starts on Friday 2nd April 2021. It all concludes on Friday 30th April (so just four full weeks of fun!)

The devices that talk to the Charity Footprints platforms are: Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, Google Fit and Strava. Alternatively you can simply input your achievements on the Charity Footprint platform at the end of the month.

Because this is our first year, we are limited to only 150 spaces, so please feel free to invite your family members or friends to participate ASAP.

We’ve created a hashtag which is #CFCfitnessfun so please share photos of you out and about on our social media platform of choice, as well as tag Care for Children: @careforchildren. We really appreciate you getting on board with this and hope you have lots of fun achieving your goal.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Charity Footprints?

Charity Footprints is a social enterprise that connects fitness and charitable giving. We empower people just like you, to get fit & give back.

Our Virtual Races allow non-profits to challenge their patrons to run, walk or ride and raise funds just as they would in a fundraising walkathon. The best part - charities save over 45% in event and logistical costs. So, the dollars that you pay to register or fundraise, go farther.

What is the campaign registration fee?

Campaign registration fee is the amount that you'll need to pay to enroll in this virtual race. This fee (less transaction charges) will go to the non-profit running this campaign as a donation.

The registration fee along with the funds raised through your individual fundraising page will enable the non-profit to fund various programs and pursue their organization's mission.

How can I create my fundraising page?

Well, you wouldn't have to create a separate fundraising page. Once you register for this campaign, we'll give you the link to your fundraising page.

How will I track my distance?

You can track your workouts by setting up your devices (Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, Google Fit, Misfit, Strava), or download the Charity Footprints' iOS or Android app and track your workouts toward this campaign. ?>

If you workout indoors (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike etc.), you can upload your workouts here.

I am an international donor (non-US), what are my donation charges and tax-deductibility?

All donations are made in US dollars, so the donations may be levied an exchange rate fee via your bank. Donors will want to connect with their bank to determine exactly what that fee may be. Additionally, international donors will need to reach out to a tax professional to discuss if and how tax deductibility will apply to their donation.

Who can sponsor my fundraising efforts?

The short answer is - everyone. The fundraising research shows that the number one reason for people not donating is that they weren't asked to.

That said, there are things you can do to attract people to sponsor you. Adding a picture to your fundraising page, telling potential donors why this cause is so personal to you, sharing your fundraising page on social media, email, and chat groups.

Last, if your employer has a gift matching program, check with the human resources department to support your favorite cause as well.

Who can I contact if I need help?

You can contact us any time if you need help. We love hearing from our users so please don't hesitate to write to us about issues, suggestions, or to just say hi. You can also contact the non-profit administrator directly if you would like.
