May is not only a sacred celebration of the Republic of the Marshall Islands Independence, but it is also mental health awareness month. Join us May 1st, Jemenei (Constitution) Day, as we launch a virtual campaign to encourage our community to be more intentional about their wellbeing.
Wellness is defined as the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better physical and mental health outcomes, so that instead of surviving you are thriving. The four elements of wellness are incorporated into this challenge, and include: Spiritual, Emotional, Physical, and Social.
This event is in loving memory of our beloved Kalena Kattil-deBrum who came up with the culturally cognizant activities included in this campaign.
We are honored to have the support of Miss Marshall Islands Claret Taonang ChongGum once again for this campaign. Miss ChongGum’s platform in her bid for Miss Marshall Islands was mental health and it will be a gift to have her on this journey with us. Look for ways her influence is imprinted throughout this campaign.
Step 1: Register for the campaign as an individual or family. You will have the option to join or start a team, this is a fun way to create a collective goal among friends and family. The family option is for families with young children that would like to collectively participate. *Please note registrants must have an email address. We apologize in advance for any barrier this may cause in participation.
Step 2: Invite your friends, family and colleagues to join the event or your team, and perhaps donate or create a fundraiser to support our efforts to champion the Ministry of Health & Human Services Iakwe Ward (Crisis Holding Center).
Step 3: Starting May 1st in the Marshall Islands (April 30th in the US) start tracking your footprints by downloading the free Charity Footprints App and then selecting the activity you participated in. There is no limit to the number of activities you can complete in a day.
