Choose kindness.



Did you know that veterinarians have one of the highest suicide rates in the world, with 1 in 6 veterinarians considering suicide at some point in their career? Male veterinarians are 2.1x as likely and female veterinarians are 3.5x as likely to die from suicide when compared to the general population (and 60% of veterinarians are women, and rising).



Please choose kindness always, and remember your veterinarians could be feeling challenged during these difficult times, and well, always! Those who choose a life of service to animals tend to be very sensitive types - that is what makes us good at our chosen paths - but also means we tend to have ALL the feelings ALL of the time!



I “race” for myself, my colleagues, and my beloved profession. Let’s all try to raise the bar together so future generations are encouraged to join our profession dedicated to the health and welfare of animals. If we don’t, who will?? And then who will be left to care for the creatures that bring so much joy and happiness to our lives???
