The Small Things
My Appeal
I am (virtually) walking up Kilimanjaro!

During this summer I’ll be walking 70 miles, the same distance as from Mt. Meru (on which the village of Nkoaranga can be found) to the summit of Kilimanjaro.

Why would I do something like this you ask? Well, for the kids of course! The walk is a part of The Small Things summer fundraiser and the money will go to the children of the Nkoaranga orphanage, the Happy Family children’s village and to our outreach families in the surrounding community.

The incentive for this walk will be your support. For every 200 dollars you give, I will walk 10 miles (16 km). Your help means everything!

Thank you for anything you can give, every little bit (step) counts!
My Progress

My Cause
The Mission: The Small Things (TST) currently supports over 130 vulnerable children and families in Tanzania. Our first priority is family preservation, and we have kept over 100 children in their families, supporting them through microfinance, business training, providing school fees, and more. We also have about 50 children in full time, residential care, with newborns – 3 year olds at Nkoaranga Orphanage, and 4 – 18 year olds in loving family-style homes at Happy Family Children’s Village.

TST believes in building and supporting happy families, in all their various shapes and forms. We create sustainable, participatory and evolving care plans for orphaned and vulnerable children and families in the Meru district of Tanzania. Working with the community, we aim to empower our clients and bringing together small acts from around the world to create big change.

A $20 donation is enough to feed one child for a month, while a $50 donation will pay for a week’s loving care by a local “mama.” $100 covers microfinance for a new business, to help children stay in families where they belong, and $500 provides food for the thirty children’s village kids for a full month!
