The Small Things
My Appeal
In support of The Small Things, Amy and Katie are virtually running from Mount Meru to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro by August 31st. We plan to run 70 miles each this summer and hope to raise $1000 to support orphaned and vulnerable children in Nkoaranga, Tanzania. Amy will volunteer there in September, and can share pictures from the Orphanage and Children's Village. Please help us reach our goal by making a donation, or create your own team and get out there (scroll down for details). Every little bit make s a huge difference. Thank you very much and happy summer!!

My Cause
The Mission: The Small Things (TST) currently supports over 130 vulnerable children and families in Tanzania. Our first priority is family preservation, and we have kept over 100 children in their families, supporting them through microfinance, business training, providing school fees, and more. We also have about 50 children in full time, residential care, with newborns – 3 year olds at Nkoaranga Orphanage, and 4 – 18 year olds in loving family-style homes at Happy Family Children’s Village.

TST believes in building and supporting happy families, in all their various shapes and forms. We create sustainable, participatory and evolving care plans for orphaned and vulnerable children and families in the Meru district of Tanzania. Working with the community, we aim to empower our clients and bringing together small acts from around the world to create big change.

A $20 donation is enough to feed one child for a month, while a $50 donation will pay for a week’s loving care by a local “mama.” $100 covers microfinance for a new business, to help children stay in families where they belong, and $500 provides food for the thirty children’s village kids for a full month!
