Harvest Bridge
My Appeal
Over the last seven months as the world has been torn apart by COVID-19 and all of the societal side effects, South Asia has been one of the most affected regions. Where Harvest Bridge works - Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka - all faced some of the greatest spreads of the virus, massive food insecurity, and the worst flooding in 30 years.

In the very beginning, as skepticism and superstition rose about around the virus, we helped pastors and local leaders gain access to correct health information from WHO and others, so they could help people take scientifically backed health precautions.

Quickly, the next clear threat was hunger due to lockdowns, and therefore, lack of income, the collapse of supply chains, etc. Food distributions specifically to communities and individuals who are overlooked for government help because of their religion, caste, disability, remoteness, etc. became the greatest focus for COVID-19 relief. At this point, thousands of families and tens of thousands of men, women, and children have received life saving food. On average, it costs $8-$20 to provide nutritious food to an individual for a full month. This is with all costs included - transportation, storage, safe distribution methods, etc.

The impact of COVID-19 will last well past 2020, so the other two primary focuses of our South Asian leaders are on education initiatives to help children and their families afford for them to go back to school, and micro-enterprise investments to help people provide for their families and communities again.

Many families throughout the world who were already living hand-to-mouth, surviving on their daily wages, are now unable to send their children back to school. This typically comes to between $30-$100 per year. For a family earning less than $2 per day before COVID-19, this was difficult, but possible. During and after COVID-19, this is simply unsustainable.

As with the entire world, many people have lost their jobs due to COVID-19. Working with women who we have invested in before, we are helping them sustain their businesses and jobs, and train new women in their own set of job skills. With a few hundred dollars, depending on the region, a woman can re-invest in her work and train another woman alongside her in the process.

I’d love for you to be part of this race and cause! Also, my birthday is in November, so this is a great way to celebrate me ;)

My Cause
The Mission: Harvest Bridge equips South Asian Christians to serve their communities more effectively. With our assistance, people and communities in South Asia are transformed by the love of Christ.
About the Organization: Harvest Bridge is a network of trusted local churches and missionaries, cooperating on church planting, pastor education, poverty alleviation, disaster relief, and various other missionary and humanitarian programs.

We were founded and continue to grow with few worldly resources. We work through local churches and ministries in the countries where we serve. This leverages the passion, experience, and knowledge of local Christians and reduces the duplication of effort and resources.

We believe that local ministries should and can be self-sufficient. We also recognize that some missionaries operate under extremely adverse conditions and can accomplish much more with some help.

We partner with Christians who have done much with little: pastors holding church under banana trees, going door to door to pray for their Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist neighbors, and traveling by foot to the multiple churches they oversee.
