My Appeal
As you may know for many years, I have co-chaired the Taste for Hope Event for the American Cancer Society for 10 years. For me, it was a labor of love, as I have a passion for funding cancer research because I have lost so many, both family and friends, to this dreaded disease. Sadly, the American Cancer Society, for many reasons, has decided to discontinue this event.
I have decided to team up to direct my support to an organization that I have supported from the sidelines and love all the wonderful work they do in support of cancer research, the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF). For the past 45 years, the foundation has funded cutting-edge cancer research and now funds more than 50 cancer research programs all over the world. The SWCRF is also a business innovator, having created an advanced collaborative model that has defined its research success and has been emulated by other scientific research institutions.
As it turns out, 17 years ago, the foundation launched a fundraising event, The Hamptons Happening, very similar to the one I used to co-chair for the ACS. This event has grown to become one of the premier events of the summer in the Hamptons. I have agreed to become a co-chair for this event which will occur on Saturday, July 10, 2021, in Bridgehampton, NY. The event attracts a crowd of more than 350 upscale summer residents of the Hamptons and New York City gaining an audience and media coverage across the region.

My Cause
The Mission: The mission of the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) is to eradicate cancer by funding collaborative cross-institutional research to identify and correct abnormal gene function that causes cancer. This research is the basis for developing minimally toxic treatments for all patients with cancer.
About the Organization:
The Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation (SWCRF) was founded in 1976 by Samuel Waxman, M.D., a notable oncologist and physician-scientist at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Since its inception, the SWCRF has funded more than $100 million in cancer research.
SWCRF is dedicated to eradicating cancer through the funding of collaborative, cross-institutional research to identify and correct abnormal gene functions that cause cancer. This research is the basis for developing minimally toxic treatments for all patients with cancer.
