The Mission: Bat Conservation International’s mission is to conserve the world’s bats and their ecosystems to ensure a healthy planet.

About the Organization: When you register and fundraise for the Step Up For Bats Challenge, you’re helping Bat Conservation International end bat extinctions worldwide. With more than 1,400 species located all around the globe, bats play a substantial ecological role that is vital to the health of our natural ecosystem and human economies. Bat Conservation International is committed to protecting the world’s bats and their ecosystems to ensure a healthy planet. Driven by science and focused on results, our clear, effective work models, and broad support from members and partners, allow us respond rapidly and effectively to bat conservation crises, preventing the extinction of threatened bats and the extirpation of globally significant populations of bats.

Today, bats are under unprecedented threat from widespread habitat destruction, accelerated climate change, invasive species, and other stresses. Without concerted international action, their populations will continue to fall, driving many species to extinction.

To save them, our passionate scientists and conservationists carry out four primary missions: Implementing endangered species interventions; Protecting and restoring landscapes; Conducting high- priority research and developing scalable solutions; and Inspiring through experience.
