My Appeal

In 2017 I had the honor of attending the dedication of a new Christel House school in Mexico City. (The facility was large enough to extend their grade offerings all the way through 12th grade.)



We started off the day visiting one of the students’ homes in the city- it was one room with a bed for 3 people, a table, and a kitchen space with a hot plate that the mother used to graciously offer us hot chocolate. Most of the students live in extreme poverty.



We then went to the school, where we received a tour, met the kids, ate lunch with them (stir fry and rice!), and watched the ceremony - with performances by the children - all perfectly composed, speaking perfect English and with all the confidence and composure in the world. Because of Christel House, these children will go on to break the cycle of poverty.



I’ll never forget that experience.



Christel DeHaan is the most influential and inspiring person I have ever had the privilege to meet.



This month I walk for her, for the teachers and staff, all of our Christel House family, and most of all for the children.
