My Appeal
I have been battling Metastatic Uveal Melanoma since October of 2020. For 2 1/2 of the past 3 years I have participated in clinical trials at Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. Without these trials I would not be alive. MUM is a rare cancer and desperately needs funding for research to find a cure. Even the smallest contribution can make a difference. The Mission: A Cure in Sight bringing clarity, support and compassion to the darkness of ocular melanoma / The mission of the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) is to end suffering and death due to melanoma by collaborating with all stakeholders to accelerate powerful research, advance cures for all patients, and prevent more melanomas.
About the Organization:
A Cure in Sight (ACIS) supports families who have ocular melanoma and focuses on research for a cure. Through public and private partnerships, we provide clear and reliable education information and access to a support community for patients and their caregivers. ACIS educates the public about ocular melanoma, treatment options, and clinical trials that may improve a patient’s prognosis, making it less overwhelming.
ACIS is dedicated to ongoing research. We know we can accelerate viable research projects that otherwise would stall and not be completed, missing opportunities to advance research for effective treatments and possibly a cure.
The Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) is the largest non-profit funder of melanoma research. Since its founding in 2007, MRA has committed $143 million in funding to advance our understanding of this disease. MRA funds projects in the areas of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, with the majority of funding allocated for melanoma treatment.
MRA’s ultimate goal is to find a cure by funding the most promising melanoma research worldwide that will accelerate progress and improve outcomes for patients and all who are at risk. Thanks to the generous support of its founders, Debra & Leon Black, 100% of every donation to MRA goes directly to melanoma research.

May God bless you. This brought tears to my eyes. My husband died of AML. We stayed for several months at the Hope Lidge. To watch some not come back…watch patients and their families..and then to be the one to leave to go home to exit for the inevitable. That was so hard. I pray that God blessed you with good health and happiness.
