My Appeal
Hello! The PheoPara Alliance is close to my heart as it's a wonderful support and research group for those affected by Pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma.
As you may or may not know, I received my cancer diagnosis for Stage IV Metastatic Paraganglioma in 2021. This very rare disease, alongside being diagnosed a year apart with Papillary Thyroid Cancer has been quite life-changing for me. As I "watch and wait", my paraganglioma cancer has remained stable and untreated.
BUT... Paraganglioma actually first entered my life in 2005 and at that time, many people didn't know what it was, and the PheoPara Alliance didn't even exist yet.
For my family this has been a genetic disorder that has affected my father, my grandfather, all 3 of my sisters, and 2 of my nieces! Thankfully, not everyone has had an occurance, and I'm fortunately the only one that has turned metastatic. I look especially at my nieces' future and think about how the PheoPara Alliance is important to their lives.
I am an open book about my cancer, so if you ever have questions, please reach out. In the meantime, I hope you will consider joining my walking team for the challenge to raise funding for this important organization, or simply make a donation to my team!

PS. Later this year, in August, PheoPara Alliance will have it's annual awareness week. The planning committee for this special week has already begun, and I'll be joining the committee again to provide my design skills! We can't wait to share it with you and all our supporters!

The Mission: Our mission is to empower patients with pheochromocytoma or paraganglioma, their families and medical professionals through advocacy, education and a global community of support, while helping to advance research that accelerates treatments and cures.
About the Organization:
Founded in 2007, the Pheo Para Alliance is the longest-standing internationally recognized leader in advocacy for, and awareness of, pheochromocytoma and paraganglioma. Since our inception, the Pheo Para Alliance has dedicated more than $2 million towards research, diagnosis, education, advocacy, and finding a cure. In August of 2017, we consolidated our power and influence by merging with a partner group: The Pheo Para Troopers. The strong, patient-centered focus that has made the Pheo Para Troopers a household name within the pheo/para community, and the research and education strengths of the Pheo Para Alliance were combined. The emergent Pheo Para Alliance has become a true union of forces working with a common mission.
The Pheo Para Alliance is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, incorporated in the state of Virginia.
