ABOUT SCRUBS AND SNEAKERS CAMPAIGN
Join the FNSNA as we continue to celebrate the Year of the Nurse! Nurses made so many significant contributions to their communities in 2020, that the World Health Organization saw it fitting to extend the designation to 2021. So, what can you do to contribute this year?
Participate in an event that not only promotes health and wellness within the nursing community but also raises funds for future nurses just like you. Lace up your sneakers and get moving for the FNSNA Sneakers and Scrubs Virtual Fitness Challenge! It is the perfect way to get moving and get involved.
Unlike our traditional in person 5K Run/1K Walk, this virtual challenge uses digital technology allowing participation on your own, with a friend, a group of fellow students, or your whole family. Participating wherever you are: day or night; rain or shine; inside or outside all while raising funds to support future nurses. The choice is yours!
Register as an individual (it’s OK to be on your own) or create a team and watch as all steps, miles and pledges add up.
Your choice, your exercise and physical activity counts! See the conversion chart below to easily track your steps and miles for the activity you choose. The fitness campaign is 5 weeks long (April 19 – May 28, 2021). During that time, you and/or your team members will set a goal for the number of miles you would like to complete and how much money you/your team would like to raise. You will have your own fundraising page with a link to send to friends to encourage them to donate to your efforts.
STEP 1: REGISTER: Set up your account anytime starting April 5, 2021. Once registered, you will have your own web page that tracks your/your team’s combined distance and funds you raise together.
Registration is $25 per person. All fees will support the FNSNA Undergraduate Scholarship Program.
STEP 2: RECRUIT: The team members can come from anywhere (even other countries!) to join you. Decide together on your goals for distance and fundraising.
STEP 3: TRACK: The steps/miles you complete between April 19th to May 28th.
There are three ways to track your progress:
- Download the free Charity Footprints App to link with Apple Watch/Healthkit and Google Fit/Android.
- Integrate your Fitbit, Garmin/Strava, or Misfit device.
- Manually enter your miles on your event page.
STEP 4: SHARE: Tell everyone you know about your team fundraising page so they can support you by donating to this worthy cause. Post the link to your social media pages or text it to friends and family.
