This August, turn your movement into meaningful impact by joining the Jack Grubbs Memorial Love in Action Challenge! From August 1–31, you’re invited to walk, run, bike, stretch—however you move—and help us raise $40,000 to purchase a new school bus for Shade School in Tanzania.
Whether it’s a daily jog or a weekend hike, every mile logged and dollar raised will help children with albinism and other vulnerabilities get to school safely and receive the education, nutrition, and care they deserve. Transportation is essential at Shade—not only for access to school, but also for protection, dignity, and opportunity.
Need a little extra motivation? Form a team with your friends, family, or church group, set your goals, and take on the challenge together. The winning team will be honored with their photo inside the bus, riding with our students every day as a symbol of your love in action.
Sign up, get moving, and make a difference—because every mile counts.
Let’s move for the mission. Let’s put love into action.
This August, I’m putting love into action, and I’m inviting you to join me!
I’ve joined the Jack Grubbs Memorial Love in Action Challenge, a movement-based fundraiser to support Shade, an organization in Tanzania where children with albinism and other vulnerabilities receive education, safety, and care. From August 1–31, I’ll be getting moving and helping Shade hit their $40,000 goal to purchase a much-needed school bus for their growing school!
Why a bus? Because transportation is more than a ride — it’s access to school, a healthy meal, a safe space to grow, and the dignity every child deserves. Many Shade students live far from campus, and for children with albinism who often face severe discrimination and danger in their communities, a bus means protection, dignity, and opportunity.
This campaign is named in honor of Jack Grubbs, the founding Board Chair of Shade, who believed love is most powerful when put into action. That’s what we’re doing together this August: moving with purpose, for children who deserve the chance to thrive.
Every gift, large or small, makes a tangible impact. If you can’t give right now, you can still support by cheering me on, sharing this page, or even joining the challenge yourself!
Let’s get that bus on the road!

I am an international donor (non-US), what are my donation charges and tax-deductibility?
All donations are made in US dollars, so the donations may be levied an exchange rate fee via your bank. Donors will want to connect with their bank to determine exactly what that fee may be. Additionally, international donors will need to reach out to a tax professional to discuss if and how tax deductibility will apply to their donation.
Who can sponsor my fundraising efforts?
The short answer is - everyone. The fundraising research shows that the number one reason for people not donating is that they weren't asked to.
That said, there are things you can do to attract people to sponsor you. Adding a picture to your fundraising page, telling potential donors why this cause is so personal to you, sharing your fundraising page on social media, email, and chat groups.
Last, if your employer has a gift matching program, check with the human resources department to support your favorite cause as well.
