ABOUT:
SSEEO is the first non-profit patient-supported stroke advocacy group in the nation. Founded in 2004 by stroke survivors, SSEEO strives to improve the quality of life for stroke survivors and their families. Originally sponsored by the American Heart/American Stroke Association, SSEEO became an independent, 501(c)(3) in 2010. The organization is run by those whose life has been affected by stroke.

SSEEO'S ORGANIZATIONAL COMPETENCIES ARE:

Build the SSEEO network of stroke survivors and other stakeholders by providing coordinated support, outreach and education.

Provide an active presence on policy issues related to stroke in Illinois by reaching out to EMS, local stroke support groups and healthcare professionals.

Create accessible resources for survivors and their caregivers through a dedicated website, discharge materials, toll-free teleconferences and e-newsletters.

Evaluate the need for other programs and services for caregivers, persons with disabilities and look into new avenues to connect with the patients after discharge.

Develop stroke survivors and caregivers for volunteer leadership roles through training, workshops and survivor-led mentoring.

OUR MISSION:
Our Mission is to provide advocacy, support, education and resources to stroke survivors and their families.
