ABOUT:
Founded in 2019, cARTie is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization operating as a profit-purpose neutral, donor-supported social enterprise, bridging inequities in education and arts access across Connecticut. It works by involving third party local corporations, foundations, and government agencies as key stakeholders to facilitate partnerships between school districts with varying resources and access to the arts. On an annual basis, cARTie curates an exhibition of artwork submitted by self-motivated high school arts students, and travels the exhibition to elementary schools across the State with limited access to the arts.
As the only contemporary art gallery on wheels of its kind in the state, cARTie’s aim is twofold: (1) to offer exhibition opportunities to self-motivated high school arts students and (2) to provide early museum-based learning opportunities that meet Common Core State Standards and enrich typical curricula to elementary schoolchildren who otherwise do not have access to robust arts programming. Core to cARTie’s platform is the interactive and participatory way in which works of art by self-motivated high school arts students are exhibited in its mobile museum for view by K-2 students across the state. Believing firmly that early museum-learning experiences matter to Connecticut’s 109,068 K-2 students and their potential for critical and creative thinking, cARTie is determined to build memorable experiences around art.

OUR MISSION:
cARTie strives to confront inequities in education and arts access across Connecticut through its mobile art gallery that connects early and advanced critical thinkers at the juncture of the effect and affect of the visual arts.
