For a child diagnosed with cancer, the word “one” can represent feeling alone, lost, and isolated. But The Power Of One represents one person, one team, one company, one community coming together to fuel that child with strength, support, and moving forward together towards a future filled with new hope and dreams.
For anyone who has known a child, family member, loved one, or friend that has battled cancer, this is a chance to join forces with others and make a difference. Working together, we will change the life of children facing cancer, showing them they are not alone, restoring their identity, and reclaiming the joy of childhood that cancer took away from them. Funds raised through the Power of One Challenge will benefit Camp One Step. Camp One Step by Children’s Oncology Services is a leader in providing empowering, supportive, educational and fun experiences for children (5-19) who have been diagnosed with cancer. We are the only local organization to offer 11 different programs throughout the year serving children and families who live in Illinois, Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest. Thanks to our 400 annual volunteers, including medical professionals, children who are in different stages of treatment have the ability to attend our One Step Programs. Over the last 39 years our organization has served more than 14,000 campers. Funds raised will support children diagnosed with cancer reclaim their childhoods.

How do I join a team on this campaign?

I am an international donor (non-US), what are my donation charges and tax-deductibility?
All donations are made in US dollars, so the donations may be levied an exchange rate fee via your bank. Donors will want to connect with their bank to determine exactly what that fee may be. Additionally, international donors will need to reach out to a tax professional to discuss if and how tax deductibility will apply to their donation.
Who can sponsor my fundraising efforts?
The short answer is - everyone. The fundraising research shows that the number one reason for people not donating is that they weren't asked to.
That said, there are things you can do to attract people to sponsor you. Adding a picture to your fundraising page, telling potential donors why this cause is so personal to you, sharing your fundraising page on social media, email, and chat groups.
Last, if your employer has a gift matching program, check with the human resources department to support your favorite cause as well.
