Why we're doing this
Lucky (now "Loki) was so sweet with his kitty brother and his human mom, our hospice patient that one of our visiting staff fell in love with them, and offered to provide them a new home when they needed it. Pet Peace of Mind provided vet exams to make sure they were in good health. The patient's family is so grateful to know that these cuddlers are getting all the love they need.

My Babies
My Sheltie and Doxie playing tug of war with one of my old socks. I miss them so much. Gus was such a snuggler and thought he should be a lap dog. Marcus would circle around several times in his blanket until he wrap his little body up so tight.

Now look at her! Lucy feels so much better after having a much needed dental cleaning, with several tooth extractions. Thanks to our special dental care grant from the Karen M. Schroth Charitable Foundation for Animals, Pet Peace of Mind was able to care for all of her veterinary expenses.

Why we're doing this
Lucy was really hurting, she didn't want to eat, or play with her puppy brother, and her people were also dealing with a serious illness. When they started receiving hospice care with Willamette Valley Hospice, the social worker told them about Pet Peace of Mind, and we got her to the vet right away to see what we could do to help.

Dog Park Cleanup incentive
One of the ways to earn footsteps is to do things for pets and people in your neighborhood, like cleaning up a local dogpark. Post a photo of yourself or your dog at the park you clean, and you can record 4,000 steps. The City of Salem's Clean Streams initiative will also send you a zipper bag of cleanup bags as a thank you.

Why we're doing this
These pups got a fresh bath and groom, something that can get too expensive to afford on a regular basis when your person is dealing with a serious illness. Our Pet Peace of Mind volunteer Sharon even provided door-to-door pick up and delivery!

Local kids who have had a death in their lives can count on Willamette Valley Hospice to offer support...this summer it was an online group. Our volunteer had a unique gift for each participant at the end of the series - a handcrafted Memory Bear, made of cherished clothing left by their loved one.

Phoenix
We got Phoenix from Salem Dogs, a local rescue, just two days before I had my second thyroid cancer surgery. He’s been stuck to me like glue ever since. He’s our family’s first small dog and our first male dog. We call him Phoenie, Mr. Phoenie, Foo-Foo, and the Police Dog because he always polices the situation. Kids too rowdy? They’re going to get a talking to. Delivery? They’re going to get a Phoenie warming.
