ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Offering Help, Healing and Hope!

Beth Hark Christian Counseling Center, Inc. is a recognized 501(c)(3) faith-based organization that serves as the social service arm under the auspices of Bethel Gospel Assembly, Inc. in the village of Harlem, New York. We offered a variety of services including, but not limited to. Emergency Food Services through our Food Pantry and Soup Kitchen, Mental Health Counseling, and Pastoral Care. BHCCC’s Food Pantry Program is designed to meet the needs of our families by providing culturally appropriate and nutritionally-balanced food. Every Tuesday, BHCCC is able to distribute grocery packages to needy families. Our Client Choice pantry model provides members of our pantry program with the chance to choose the nutritious foods they need for their families. This model empowers clients to be active participants in the distribution process. The volunteer-prepared food bags provide each family member with three meals for three days. BHCCC’s Soup Kitchen serves lunch on Wednesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 12 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. from September to June. All meals are prepared on premises; our staff cook prepares hearty balanced meals with wholesome ingredients so as to not exacerbaste the health challenges prevalent amongst so many of our patrons. Beyond providing nutritious food, the program offers participants the option of taking their meals to go or sitting down and eating family-style in a welcoming, safe, friendly atmosphere that offers a retreat from the stresses associated with being homeless or living in poverty. BHCCC's pastoral care services offers a person-centred, holistic approach to care that complements the care offered by other helping disciplines while paying particular attention to spiritual care. The focus of pastoral care is upon the healing, guiding, supporting, reconciling, nurturing, liberating, and empowering of people in whatever situation they find themselves*.

Our Mission

Our mission is to "Offer Help, Healing and Hope" to the whole person. We are committed to empowering those whom we serve, through education and information-sharing, to make the changes necessary to better their individual family's life circumstances, as well as providing them with tangible tools with which effectuate change.
