ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Because Digestive Health Matters
The 30th Anniversary Digestive Health Virtual Walk, Make Moves for GI Health, is a unique event that goes far beyond a typical virtual walk. It will span two weeks in August, during Gastroparesis Awareness Month. It will provide the opportunity for participants to engage at their own pace and as their health and schedules permit. To honor the thirty years of IFFGD’s existence, the overall campaign goal is for all participants to collectively walk 10,950 miles over the two weeks. This number represents the number of days IFFGD has been a non-profit serving the GI community.
Participants are encouraged to reach their points by including non-physical self-care goals along with both traditional and non-traditional exercise routines. Goals will go beyond physical fitness by encouraging participants to do things such as schedule a doctor’s appointment or colonoscopy. Try a new gut friendly recipe or start a log or diary of their food and/or symptoms. All proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards a research grant for gastrointestinal illness.
Our mission is to inform, assist and support people affected by gastrointestinal (GI) disorders.
IFFGD was founded in 1991 by one person struggling with the challenges imposed by a chronic GI disorder. Many others, from all walks of life, have joined with us. We work with patients, families, physicians, nurses, practitioners, investigators, regulators, employers, and others to broaden understanding about GI disorders, support or encourage research, and improve digestive health in the adults and children.
