ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Live SASSY!

Established in 1979, our organization operates four divisions that serve the West Valley communities of Santa Clara County and beyond: the Saratoga Area Senior Center, the Saratoga Adult Care Center, a community newspaper called The Outlook, and the RYDE (Reach Your Destination Easily) Senior Transportation Program. Before the COVID-19 pandemic closed our doors, the Saratoga Area Senior Center offered a central location for active seniors to come together for a variety of classes, social groups, and resources that supported their physical, social, and emotional needs. To preserve the safety of our community, we closed our center and moved all our fitness, art, music and social classes online; and began hosting Drive-Thru Senior Resource where multiple agencies and organizations set up booths in our parking lot and provided a variety of helpful resources to support the community during this trying time. The Saratoga Adult Care Center (ACC) also launched its virtual program to continue providing stimulating activities for less-independent adults who may be experiencing early to moderate stages of Dementia. The ACC is designed to provide daily support for people who can’t be alone, and is a wonderful respite for families caring for loved ones. Our RYDE Senior Transportation Program helps adults ages 65 and older maintain their independence by providing thousands of safe, reliable rides for various needs including medical appointments, social outings, grocery shopping, and more. The Outlook is a print community newspaper that publishes uplifting stories and shares important information and resources with the cities of Saratoga, Los Gatos and surrounding areas, including people who may not have internet access.
