ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Living hope for children with albinism
Shade is a Christian nonprofit organization based in Shinyanga, Tanzania, with a mission to empower children, families, and communities affected by albinism and other vulnerabilities. Founded in 2014, Shade exists to create spaces of safety, dignity, and opportunity—where every child is seen, valued, and given the tools to thrive. Through our integrated programs in education, advocacy, and community outreach, we work to dismantle the stigma and systemic barriers faced by people with albinism and others in marginalized communities.
Our flagship initiative is Shade School, a growing pre- and primary school that provides inclusive, high-quality education to children with and without albinism. We pair academic support with holistic services such as nutrition, health care, spiritual care, and family empowerment. Shade also leads
advocacy efforts across Tanzania—raising awareness about albinism and educating communities. At our core, we believe that transformation happens through relationship and that every person has God-given value and purpose.
