ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Doing The Most Good

The Salvation Army is a global charitable organization dedicated to meeting human needs without discrimination. The Salvation Army of Portland Maine offers local services such as food assistance, shelter, addiction recovery programs, English as a Second Language courses, after - school programs for children, and disaster relief. The Salvation Army works tirelessly to support families in crisis, help the homeless find stability, and provide hope to those facing hardship. Its mission is not just to meet immediate physical needs, but also to restore dignity, faith, and opportunity to every individual it serves. The need in our area has increased to the point that the Christmas Red Kettle Campaign no longer covers the amount needed. To continue providing these vital services, we are raising money this holiday season through the Red Kettle Campaign, and this year’s first Race for the Red Kettle, hosted by our Young Professional’s volunteer chapter, our Echelon. Every dollar raised goes directly toward programs that make a tangible difference - from feeding hungry families to bringing Christmas to families in need to keeping homes warm during the winter months. By running this race this holiday season, you can play a vital role in strengthening our community and helping neighbors in need. During our Red Kettle Campaign which runs from November 15-December 25, we are encouraging people to help us run toward our goal of $10,000 to making a difference in the lives of the people our community.
