ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Providing a pathway out of poverty through quality education and training.

Children deserve to do more than just survive; they deserve to dream, explore, flourish, and reach their highest potential. CBC seeks to give students the hope and the means to build a better future, for themselves and the entire community. In Fortaleza, on the northeast coast of Brazil, the public school system only offers 4 hours of schooling per day. For the poorest children in the slums, education gradually becomes less and less of a priority as schools are unreliable, overcrowded, and uninspiring. Over 50% of students drop out by the time they are 11 years old. We work with these children daily, filling up the school day by providing an extra 4 hours of classes. We have students in the morning who go to school in the afternoon and vice-versa. In addition to the school curriculum, CBC offers classes in music, dance, sports, and technology. CBC also provides counseling for parents, food parcels, evangelical outreach, bible studies and special events throughout the year. With 35 years of experience working in Brazil, our programs are designed to support families and build stronger communities. We partner with individuals, businesses, churches, and other groups from all over America. We also facilitate short term mission trips for groups of volunteers at our project in Fortaleza, Brazil.

Our Mission

Our mission is to find effective and sustainable ways to bring opportunity to the poor, releasing their untapped potential through quality education and training. Our vision is that the children we work with will become faith filled disciples of Jesus, becoming future leaders and change makers, in their community, their city and their nation.
